FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Rita Gale Eng
Rita Gale Eng70, of Waipahu, Hawaii, was called to heaven on August 20, 2017. She was born on September 16, 1946, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Born and raised on Oahu, she graduated from Farrington High School in 1964. She worked as a seamstress for Princess Kaiulani Dresswear, a clerk for Wigwam Store, and a manager at Goodwill Industries, where she was referred to as "The Rock" for being steady at top profits for the stores she managed (Kaimuki, Dillingham, and Waimalu). Mom "retired" from work to care for her youngest daughter and her grandchildren. She later worked for her son at his auto body and repair shop, G's Auto Center, formerly G's Automotive. Mom was the helpful and friendly face and voice to his many clients, who called her Mom and/or Aunty. Her favorite pastime was bargain hunting at Kam Swap Meet, garage sales, and thrift stores with her sister Lila. Mom had a heart of gold and her most rewarding job was being Mother and Grandmother to her 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. Mom always went above and beyond her role of Mother by always giving, protecting and loving her family unconditionally. The matriarch of our family, and queen of our hearts is greatly missed by all she leaves behind. Love was her life, her legacy, her gift. She is survived by Bobby Gutierrez, her children Kimberly (Mike) Ansagay, Tammy (late Rodney) Tam, Glenden (Brandie) Eng, and Chelsey (Aaron) Simmons; grandchildren Michael (Channing), Bryson, Jonathan, Branden, Brenden, Solana, Dakota; and great-granddaughter Azariyah; siblings Phillip (Hilda) Valentine, Geraldine (Paul) Maria, Bernard Valentine, and Marie (Arthur) Kanealii-Ortiz. She was predeceased by parents Phillip and Edith Valentine, and sister Lila Aila. Services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Nuuanu Mortuary 2233 Nuuanu Avenue in Honolulu. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the services will start at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements Provided By: NUUANU MEMORIAL PARK & MORTUARY LLC

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
