CHARLES JUAREZ
CHARLES JUAREZAge 89, of Aiea, HI, passed away August 5, 2017 in Aiea. Born July 30, 1928 in Honolulu, Oahu, HI. Charles (Charlie) grew up in Kalihi and was raised by his grandmother, Carmen M. Juarez. He graduated from Farrington High School. Charlie married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Philomena Navarro in 1949. He worked as a merchant seaman on the Matson cruise ships, as a mechanic at Pearl Harbor shipyard, and retired as a heavy equipment mechanic at Lone Star Industries/Hawaiian Cement. Charlie had a sister Carmen Juarez Olivera, brother Gabriel Juarez Jr., half sister Gwendolyn Mae Makepa, half brothers Alfred and John Thomas, and step brother Bacilio Juarez. Charlie is survived by sons, Charles Juarez, Jr. of Aiea, Michael Kalaokuhio (Yvonne) Juarez (adopted) of Kapolei; daughters, Laura (Michael) Vuckovich of OH, Christine (Lawrence) Kealalio of WA, Charlene (Stuart) Brooks of AK, Kathleen (Gerald) Juarez- Padama of WA, Carmen Juarez of Mililani, Sylvia Juarez of Big Island; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Charlie was preceded in death by his grand- mother, Carmen M. Juarez; father, Gabriel Juarez Sr.; mother, Helen Brede Mababa; sister, Carmen Juarez Olivera; half sister, Gwendolyn Mae Makepa; half brothers Alfred and John Thomas; and his beloved wife of 65 years, Philomena. Visitation 9:30 a.m., Friday (September 22) at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel; Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow 12:30 p.m. at Mililani Memorial Park. Flowers welcome.
