Fagalima Bustamante Kealoha
Fagalima Bustamante Kealoha88, of Hau'ula, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 5, 1929, in Utulei, American Samoa. She attended Poyer Junior School, (aka: Samoana High School) up to the 8th grade and held many jobs to help support her family while living in American Samoa. She worked as a waitress at a near by establishment and as a housekeeper/nanny for doctors and families of Johnson Hospital in Utulei. Previous marriages to the late Samu Taumanupepe, Sr. and Maeu Paita. She later met and married her love, the late Albert Kihamahana Kealoha. They moved to Hawai'i in December 1962 and later married in Las Vegas, Nevada.She worked at the Dole Pineapple Cannery as a trimmer and retired as forelady in 1989 after 26 years of dedicated service. Her biggest achievement was becoming a U.S Citizen in 1988. She loved, loved, loved her grandchildren and babysat whenever she was needed. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, doing yard work and traveling. She loved to weave or patch her lauhala mats, after picking the leaves, stripping, soaking and rolling it out to dry. She was an expert coconut palm weaver making serving trays, baskets, sleeping mats, windmills and weaving for family parties. She was a self-taught seamstress who enjoyed sewing for others. She believed in prayer and served her Lord Jesus all the days of her life. She was a member of London Mission Society church in Utulei, American Samoa. She was a faithful member of the Kahuku United Methodist Church where she worshipped and served for decades. She more recently attended Wells of Blessings Church in Pearl City under her son, Pastor Lono Kealoha. Preceded in death by her parents: Juan John Bustamante, Sr. and Fagalima Tuilefano; her spouse: Albert Kihamahana Kealoha; sons: Juan Safea Bustamante, Hilo, Hawaii, Tugamau Bustamante, American Samoa, Domingo Taumanupepe, Spokane, WA. and Junior Kealoha,Hau`ula, Hawaii; daughters: Lusia Taumanupepe (Fa`amausili) Pomele, Tafuna, American Samoa; brother; Juan John Safea Bustamante, American Samoa; sisters: Oliana Tuilefano, American Samoa, Taumalatou Pomele, American Samoa, Saposapoaluga Pomele, American Samoa,and Emelia Mana`o Pomele Ta`ala, San Diego, CA. Survived by son, Samu (Judy) Taumanupepe II, Houston, TX., and Lono Maeu (Apati) Kealoha, Kane`ohe, HI.; daughters: Saiselu Kealoha (Joel) Walker, Hau`ula, HI. and To`afa Kealoha (Brad) Heder, Hau`ula, HI.; hanai and step children; Charlotte Hee, Punalu`u, HI., Samuel Kanakanui, Hau`ula, HI. and Grace (Jim) Anthony, Kahana, HI.; sisters Dorothy "Toafa" Wong (Matu`u +) Fa`agau and Gafa Fagalima Pomele (Herman +) Matthews, Waipahu, HI. She was also blessed with 36 Grandchildren; 48 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. (+) Deceased Services will be held on Friday, September, 22, 2017 at Borthwick Mortuary, Maunakea Chapel. Visitation: 10:30 a.m.; Service: 11:00 a.m.
