GLADYS TIWANAK SEVENER APRIL 16, 1935 - AUGUST 29, 2017 In her teenage years, Gladys Tiwanak was considered by family and friends as the "Filipina song bird of the islands" because of her lilting voice and engaging personality. Gladys was the picture and prototype of Hawaii's awakening youth at the time, eager to pursue new opportunities now available to them. Gladys was born in Honolulu, and grew up in Kakaako and Damon Tract. Early education included St. Augustine Catholic School in Waikiki and Maryknoll High School. She later attended nursing school at St. Francis Hospital in Liliha, completing her medical professional degrees on the mainland. Most of Gladys' nursing career was in hospitals in Los Angeles, Tulare, and Fresno, California. Now, with heavy hearts we join Gladys' children on the mainland - Michael, Angel, Cindi and Tony - during this period of loss in remembering Gladys' welcoming smile, engaging personality, and her caring, compassionate spirit. To our aunty Gladys Tiwanak Sevener, in cherished memory,we offer simply "SALAMAT TITA. ALOHA AKU OE I MAKUAHINE." ~ THE TIWANAK FAMILY IN HAWAII ~
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
