DR. KLAUS DIETER RENNERT
1/8/1928 - 9/17/2017 Two years after suffering a debilitating stroke, Commander, retired, U.S. Navy, Klaus Dieter Rennert, M.D. died in Aiea, Hawaii, Sept. 17, 2017. Born in Muehlhausen, Germany, Jan. 8, 1928, Klaus D. Rennert lived in Germany through WW II, having been conscripted as a seventeen-year old teenager during the last few weeks of the war. The help of distant relatives in the State of Kansas made it possible for Klaus D. Rennert to emigrate to the United States in 1951, where in Baltimore, Maryland, he studied medicine at Johns Hopkins University. He received his M.D. degree magna cum laude from the University of Munich in 1957. In the 1950s he sponsored his mother and siblings Helga, Hal and Gary who joined him in Baltimore and in Wichita, Kansas, where, after marrying Jeanne, his daughters Patricia and Heidi were born. He specialized in dermatology in Denver, Colorado, where he and his family lived until 1983. After his divorce, Klaus D Rennert joined the U.S. Navy at the rank of Lieutenant Commander in 1983 in Long Beach, CA, and since 1985 in Aiea, Hawaii until 2011, when he retired. Rennert is survived by his life-companion Patty, his daughters Sarah Oaks, Heidi Rennert, grandson Donovan, sister Helga Sallmon and three younger brothers Peter, Hal and Gary Rennert.
