FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ELOISE (KIYOKO) RIYU CHING
ELOISE (KIYOKO) RIYU CHING98, of Honolulu passed peacefully in her sleep on September 8, 2017. She was born in Wailuku, Maui on October 22, 1918 to Takejiro and Taki (Shiraishi) Riyu. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lawrence C. Ching; sister Carol (Louis) Ogawa; brothers Masatsugu Riyu, Noboru (Katherine) Riyu and Melvyn Riyu. Eloise grew up on her parents' farm in Waikapu and attended Maui High. After high school, she attended Phillips Commercial School in Honolulu. In 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence C. Ching. Eloise raised 5 children and was a long time employee of the FAA. After she retired, she and her husband enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by children Lawrence (Loretta) Ching, Ronald (Judy) Ching, Stanley (Elise) Ching, Patrick (Elisabeth) Ching and Sharon (Dave) Carsten, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Please join us to celebrate Eloise's life at 3:30 PM Wednesday, October 4 at Borthwick Mortuary Mauka Chapel. Reception immediately following. Aloha attire. Mass and burial will be held on October 5.
