Mary Ann Oasay Hashimoto
Mary Ann Oasay Hashimoto MARY ANN OASAY HASHIMOTO Mary Ann Oasay Hashimoto passed away on September 11, 2017. Born in Ewa, Hawaii, she was a retired postal employee from Ewa Beach and Barber's Point Post Office. Hired in 1965, she was a "postal pioneer" (published in Star Bulletin, February 3, 2001) as she was the first female letter carrier in Hawaii. She loved her job and especially enjoyed watching the children on her route growing up. Her children also loved her job as she would bring home so many Christmas presents from her customers who clearly loved her. Her loving husband of 62 years, Willard A. Hashimoto, Sr., passed away on September 27, 2016. She was the eldest of 8 children born to Sabas and Maria Oasay. She is survived by sister, Angeline Leynes, brothers Rolando, Manuel, Larry and Danny, predeceased by brothers Franklin and Benjamin. Survived by sons Willard Jr., Robin (Jodi), Glenn (Jaime), and Keo (Rona); daughters Jan Cahela, Yvonne Salva (Garrick Gedarro), Lili-Ann Say (Wendell) and Michelle Sakurada (Mike); 21 grand- children and 10 great-grand- children. Celebration for Mary Ann and Willard "Yagi" will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Mililani Mauka Chapel. Visitation at 5:00, services commencing at 6:30.
