1954 - 2017 Dr. Gary Greenly, known to many as "Doc," passed away at home on August 22, 2017. He leaves behind the love of his life and partner Nancy and their family, Ross Morimoto (Lauren), Sarah Morimoto (Richard Nguyen), and Erica China (Mikey). An only child, Doc has many cousins in Lancaster and York County, Pa. He was closest to his cousin Richard Fears (Jossel) whom he considered more like a brother. The Fears visited Hawaii annually to complete the family circle. A graduate of Philadelphia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Gary moved from his hometown of Lancaster, Pa. to Honolulu in 1985 and opened his Osteopathic Medicine and Family Practice in Niu Valley. He always dreamed of living and working in Hawaii, and over the next 30 plus years, enjoyed a highly successful practice. Patients came from Oahu, the neighbor islands, Japan and the Mainland regularly to see "their doctor." For many years he was one of the very few physicians making house calls to those in need as well as being an independent physician at the Job Corp Clinic in Waimanalo once a week. Often, for patients who fell on difficult times or were without insurance, he would tell them, "Just pay what you can afford; there's always the next time." Dr. Greenly was one of the first physicians to participate in the State of Hawaii Medical Marijuana Program. He strongly supported its use for medicinal purposes. He was a major sponsor of both the Paradise Cup and the Hawaiian Island Body Building Championships. His love of muscle cars and luxury sport cars was well known. Doc will be missed by so many, not just for his professional care, but for his quick wit, compassion and generosity. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolence messages will be received at Dr. Greenly's office through November 1st.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
