RYDER KALANI ONOPA
Ryder Kalani Onopa, MD passed away from cancer on August 17, 2017. He died peacefully at home in Maunawili valley in the arms of his family. He was thirty years old. Ryder graduated from Punahou School in 2005, Columbia University in 2009 and from the John A Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii in 2014. His life was short but full and rich, marked by excellence in everything he did, kindness and thoughtfulness and courage. He had a loving and philosophical temperament and an exceptional scientific mind. He touched many people. He is survived by his parents, Janet and Bob Onopa, his brother, Alex Onopa, his beloved dog Sky, and a loving extended family of aunties, uncles, and cousins. A public service will be held to honor his life and legacy at the Punahou Thurston Memorial Chapel on Saturday October 21, 2017. Visitation starts at 1:00 p.m., services at 2:30 p.m., refreshments to follow. Please enter the main gate at Punahou and Wilder to park. Please, no funeral floral arrangements. In place of flowers, friends are welcome to donate to one of Ryder's choices for charitable support: The John A Burns School of Medicine (through giving.uhfoundation.org, at the Dr. Ryder K.
