PHYLLIS RAMELB CONSTANTINO
95, of Ewa Beach, passed away September 19, 2017, at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center. She was preceded in death by Venancio, her beloved husband of 64 years, and by son Norman. She is survived by brothers Liborio and Benjamin (Marian), daughter Gloria (Dan), grandson Peter, granddaughter Erin (Ray), and great-granddaughter Mika Boylan LaFleur. The daughter of immigrant sugar workers, Phyllis left Kahuku High School at 15 to help her family care for five younger siblings. Her sacrifice helped them to earn degrees in law, engineering, nursing, and education. Each year a Scholarship under the name of Ben and Phyllis Constantino is given to a Campbell High School graduate who attended Ewa Elementary School. She was also "Aunty Manang" to dozens of nieces and nephews, celebrated for her meals, her always full cookie jar, and her immaculately clean house. She grew red ginger and ferns, loved to crochet dish scrubbies, watched MSNBC and was a solid doubles partner on the tennis court well into her 80's. Phyllis worked for many years as supervisor of the Officers' Club Snack Bar at Barber's Point Naval Air Station. Services will be held Wednesday, October 18, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1525 Waimano Home Road, Pearl City. Visitation will begin at 9:30 followed by Eulogy and Song at 10:30 and Mass at 11. Lunch will be served following Mass. Aloha attire. Interment at Mililani Mortuary Park at 1:30 pm.
