Barbara Ann Moon, age 75, of Honolulu passed away on October 8, 2017. She was born in Joplin, Missouri to Phyllis and Ray Heller on December 4, 1941. After receiving a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, she worked at newspapers in Texas and Chicago before moving to Honolulu. Initially working as a civilian with the U.S. Navy, she joined the City and County of Honolulu, where she enjoyed a 34-year long career, retiring as a manager with the Department of Planning and Permitting (fka DLU). Her sharp intellect and personal and professional integrity were the hallmarks of her distinguished career. To those she loved, her caring and loyalty were boundless. Those who knew and loved her best also knew that her quiet demeanor belied a dry wit and wicked, sometimes raucous, sense of humor. To play poker with her risked being subjected to her victory dance as she merrily took your chips and issued orders to deal another hand. To laugh with her was joyous and unforgettable. She was a much beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend who lived and died on her own terms...with courage, compassion, dignity and grace. She shall forever be missed. Survivors include son Ryan, daughter-in-law Deanna, grandsons Evan and Nathan, daughter Rima, sister Donna Kennedy, brother Duane Kennedy, sister Sissy Kennedy, friend Geri Ung and the Ung Family. Private services held. Arrangements Provided By: HOSOI GARDEN MORTUARY
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
