SUE E. REID
Sue E. Reid, 72, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at her beloved home in Kailua, Hawaii, where she lived for almost 40 years. Sue is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Evelyn Everroad. She is survived by: husband Carleton (Culle) Reid; daughter Jennifer Cervenka and her husband Jan; son Cullen Reid and his fiance Becky; granddaughters Linnea and Malia Cervenka; grandson Conner Reid; brother Terry Everroad and his wife Esa; sister Lynn Everroad; and sister Andy Everroad and her husband Rich. Sue was born in Seymour, Indiana and moved around with her father's job until settling in West Des Moines, Iowa, where she met her husband Culle. They became high school sweethearts and later wed while they both attended college at the University of Iowa. Sue graduated with a B.A. in Sociology. Sue later received a Master degree in Social Work from and undertook a doctoral program in political science at the University of Hawaii. Sue had a distinguished career working for the State of Hawaii and City and County of Honolulu. Some of her achievements included serving as the Director of Human Resources for the first woman Mayor of Honolulu, implementing State health objectives for the Hawaii Department of Health, and teaching in the areas of public health and gerontology for over 20 years at the University of Hawaii's Schools of Public Health and Social Work. In retirement, Sue designed and built a dream home on Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho, and traveled often to see family on the mainland. She read voraciously, and was known as an expert on Kailua real estate. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 3:30 PM at Borthwick Mortuary Mauka Chapel, located at 1330 Maunakea Street, Honolulu. A private burial will follow.
