GRAYCE OTOME OYADOMARI MIJI
GRAYCE OTOME OYADOMARI MIJIMarch 10, 1922 - October 5, 2017 Grayce Otome Oyadomari Miji, 95, of Honolulu, passed away with her daughter at her bedside on October 5, 2017 at the Palolo Chinese Home/St. Francis Hospice. She attended Kalihi-waena School and graduated with Farrington High School's first graduating class and the University of Hawaii. She was married to Robert T. "Hank" Miji for 32 years and raised two children. After formally retiring from the University of Hawaii, Management Systems Office/Computing Center, Grayce worked as a substitute teacher, at UH Summer Session and was a volunteer with Child and Family Service. She also worked at the Honolulu Marathon office for many years. Grayce was an avid marathon runner and exercised for most of her life, learning tai chi, look toong and many other disciplines. She enjoyed reading and loved to take courses at the UH and KCC and attend seminars with friends in her spare time. She made lasting friendships during her lifetime and always enjoyed good food, good conversation and socializing with family and friends. She looked forward to seeing everyone at celebrations, tailgates, parties and family get togethers. She shared good times with many. She leaves behind a daughter, Bobbi (Reuben) Song and son, Eric Y. Miji; Granddaughters Christina R. (Mathew) Groshong and Kimberly Lynn (Chan) Song; Great-Granddaughters Malia, Madi and Brianna; and sister, Constance Oyadomari (John K.K.) Collins. And many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Gentei Oyadomari and Kama Chinen; husband, Robert T. "Hank" Miji, brothers Richard M. Oyadomari, James N. Oyadomari, George T. Oyadomari, Frank S. Oyadomari, Eugene T. Oyadomari, Francis H. Oyadomari and sister, Evelyn M. Oyadomari Nakama. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Diamond Head Memorial Park Chapel, 535 18th Avenue, Honolulu, HI. Visitation at 9:30AM and Service at 11:00AM. Her ashes will be scattered in the waters off Magic Island on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 8:00AM.
