THOMAS “TOMMY” BUNG KEE LAU
Age 94, of Pearl City, passed away on October 12, 2017. Born in Honolulu and preceded in death by wife Elfriede of 67 years, Tommy is survived by daughters Cookie Thompson, Charmaine "Maine", Ishikawa, and Karin McCorriston; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sisters Lucille Wong, Marjorie Nakahodo, Mae McGinnis; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings Gilbert, George, John, Joseph, William, Grace. Graduated from McKinley High School in 1941 and served in the Air National Guard, Navy Reserves, US Army and the US Air Force, culminating over 30 years of service before retiring in 1970, USAF Master Sergeant. Participated in the Berlin Air Lift, Korean and Vietnam Wars, various European and Asian missions. Awarded several commendations for "going beyond the call" of duty which included helping with an aircraft mechanical problem and for attaining 17000 flight hours. Proud member of the 858 Hawaii Vietnam Veterans of America; founding volunteer at the Pacific Aviation Museum at Ford Island. He loved sharing his experiences and worldwide travels over a cold beer. Services Saturday, November 4, 2017, Mililani Mortuary Downtown Chapel, 20 S Kukui Street; Visitation 9:30am; Service 10:30am. Burial Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11am, Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire.
