February 27, 1932 - October 13, 2017 Yuriko Yoshiyama, 85, of Honolulu, passed away on October 13, 2017. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunty and friend. Yuriko grew up in Waipahu, and as a teenager worked beside her mother in the plantation fields. After graduating from Waipahu High School in 1950, she worked at Arakawa General Store, then later as a teller at Bank of Hawaii. She married her husband Albert on August 11, 1962, and took on her most challenging job - raising her three children, Colin, Jon, and Kathleen. Yuriko was a member of Manoa Valley Church and enjoyed water exercise, shopping, and talking story over 4+ hour lunches with family and friends. She always had a smile, hug and words of encouragement for everyone she knew, and always had food on hand to whoever visited the house. She had the gift of conversation and made everyone she met feel comfortable and at ease. She will be remembered for her positive, cheery attitude, caring heart, and strong faith in God. Yuriko's greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, Luke, Jadynn, Ally, Brooke, Hope, Leina and Casey. She will forever be their guardian angel. Yuriko is predeceased by her parents Kama and Haruko Tsuhako, brother Shige (Betty) Tsuhako, sister Mie (David) Takenaka, and brother Ronald Tsuhako. Yuriko is survived by her husband of 55 years, Albert; children Colin (Chris), Jon (Carol) and Kathleen (Kerstan) Wong; brother Keiji (Amy) Tsuhako, sister Sharlene "Teru" (Michio) Shishido, brother Dennis Tsuhako, sister Helen Tsuhako, brother Ernie (Jeanne Fujioka) Tsuhako and sister-in-law Vicki Tsuhako; 7 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will begin at 9:00am on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Manoa Valley Church, with services to follow at 10:00am. Family requests casual attire. No flowers please.
