Walter Joseph Fairfax, III
Walter Joseph Fairfax, III, beloved father and grandfather, treasured brother and uncle, passed from this life peacefully in Newport Beach, California on October 5, 2017, after an extended battle with cancer. He was 75 years old. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 22, 1942 to Walter and Elizabeth Fairfax. Raised in West Covina, California, Walt graduated from West Covina High School and attended Mt. San Antonio College, earning an associate's degree in business. He spent his early working years in finance, real estate and restaurant ownership and the last twenty years of his career as a small business owner in the aerospace industry, retiring in 2003. Walt enjoyed traveling and he loved sports, especially basketball. Throughout his life, Walt was an avid golfer, boater and fisherman. He spent a good portion of his retirement years living in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he enjoyed golfing with his friends and taking his boat out to sea. He was an active booster club member for the University of Hawaii Men's Basketball Program. He was a generous and loving father and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities, events, and performances. He is survived by his daughter Deborah Glenn (John) of Rancho Cucamonga, his son Kevin Fairfax (Carrie) of Newport Beach and seven grandchildren: Andrea Glenn, Alexandra Kolowena (Mitchell), Alana Glenn, Kathryn Glenn, Christopher Glenn, Sophia Fairfax and Julianna Fairfax. He also leaves brothers David Fairfax, Ronald Fairfax (Pamela), Guerin Fairfax and a sister, Bernadette Fairfax as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on November 12th, at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar with a celebration of life harbor cruise following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walt's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the University of Hawaii Men's Basketball Program.
