Deborah Coward Damon
1937 - 2017 Deborah Coward Damon passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 4, 2017 at the age of 80. She was surrounded by family. Born in New York City on November 11, 1937, daughter of Raymond and Winifred Coward and sister of Hugh Coward, Debby grew up in Bedford, New York and graduated from Miss Halls School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and Briarcliff College in Briarcliff Manor, New York. She met Frank Damon on a family trip to Hawaii in 1958 and they were married the following year at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Bedford, New York. Debby was active in the community for her whole life and was a member of the Junior League and the Garden Club of Honolulu. She also served on the Board of the KCAA Preschools of Hawaii and on the National Board of the Boys & Girls Club of America. More recently she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was an avid bridge player and flower arranger. She had a refined aesthetic which she applied to home dcor, fashion, and landscaping. At different points in her life, Debby lived in Los Angeles, Connecticut, New York, Bermuda and London, but she was drawn back to Hawaii, which she always considered her home. She is survived by a large family including her four sons, Allen, Hugh, Thomas and Andrew, her two daughters-in-law, Delphine and Vanessa, as well as eight grandchildren, Sloan, Jack, Cole, Mahina, McKenna, Kobey, Luke and Drew. Services will be held at the Atherton Chapel at Central Union Church on January 4th, 2018 at 1:00pm. There will be a reception following the service in the Atherton Courtyard. In lieu of flowers Debby would like donations to be made to The Garden Club of Honolulu.
