Barbara Earle
BARBARA EARLE After a brief illness, Barbara Earle passed away peacefully on October 21 in the company of her loving family and caregivers. We are grateful for her one- hundred years of life and the many blessings she enjoyed, starting with a happy, sixty-eight-year marriage to Colonel John H. Earle, USMC. Barbara is survived by her four children, John (Jackie), Susan McLane (Jean), Tom (Maj), and Jane Earle-Dabrowski (Andrs); six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. The Arts were an integral part of Barbara's life, and she was a beloved English and theater teacher at Punahou School for decades. Additionally, Barbara taught ancient and modern hula, both in Hawaii and in Washington DC, acted in several Shakespearean dramas at Kennedy Theater, and sang the Messiah in Central Union Church for 30 years. Barbara appreciated her many world travels and the two years spent taking acting classes in London and studying art and history in Madrid. Barbara enjoyed an active mind to the end, following daily world news with interest, and continued to be an avid reader throughout her long life. To her former students, she expressed her hope that they would be life-long learners themselves. Barbara's friends and acquaintances are invited to her Celebration of Life on December 28 at Atherton Chapel, Central Union Church. Visitation with family is at 2:30 pm with the service at 3:00 pm, followed by refreshments. No flowers. Donations in Barbara's name can be made to Punahou School or the charity of your choice.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
