A celebration of Frank's life will be held on Wednesday, December 27 at 4pm on the Star of the Sea School field at 4469 Malia Street. Francis Stehr Haines, 96, passed away on August 10, 2017 in Lake Placid, New York. He was born on April 7, 1921 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to William Howard Haines and Harriet Hobbs. He studied architecture as an undergraduate at Princeton University and, after obtaining a Masters in Architecture from MIT in 1948, he moved to Hawaii where he had a successful career at Architects Hawaii. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Ann "Peg" Hutchinson, and his daughter, Jane Elise "Kini" Gordon. Survivors include daughter Mallory (Pete) Armstrong, son Frederick (Kari) Haines, and grandchildren Elise (Cainan) Erwin, Julia Gordon, Nicholas Gordon, Lauren Armstrong, Marlise Armstrong and Jaime Cantrall and 4 great-grandchildren. Donations in his name would be appreciated by Habilitat, Parents and Children Together, and Historic Hawaii Foundation. Please join us for this special gathering in his remembrance.
