Randall Kelekolio HongoThe Reverend Randall Kelekolio Hongo went to be with Jesus Dec. 16, 2017. He was born July 1, 1947 in Hilo to Glenn and Ida Hongo. He and his wife, Gay, were six-time Na Hoku Hanohano Award winners who recorded 19 albums and performed around the world. Randy was one of the finest pianists the islands have ever known and could play almost any song -- jazz, Hawaiian, Christian -- at the drop of a hat. His strong faith in Jesus led him to bless countless people through his music and help many aspiring musicians. Through Christian Vision, a ministry founded by the Hongos, his influence will continue through the Hongo Music Center. The center will help people of all ages to develop and use their musical talents to serve others for God's glory. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Gay, his son, Andrew, and his sister, Ruth Binyan. Funeral services will be at Kalihi Union Church Saturday, Dec. 23.
