FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Dorothy Toyoko (Terada) Nakata
89, of Kula, Maui, passed away peacefully under the compassionate care of Islands Hospice and her loving family on October 29, 2017. Dorothy was born on July 5, 1928 in Ulupalakua to Mitsuji & Hatsume Terada. Dorothy attended Ulupalakua Elementary, graduated from Baldwin High School in 1945, and earned her teaching degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In 1952, she married her love, Mr. Ronald Nakata, and together they raised four children. Mrs. Nakata was a special education teacher on Oahu and a member of various organizations associated with education, culture and supporting Veterans. "Aunty Dot" as she was affectionately known, will be remembered as a strong willed and minded woman who was full of energy, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was kind and gentle towards all. Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of over 65 years, Mr. Ronald Nakata; sons, Myron (Lahoma), Alan (Marie) & Brian Nakata; daughter, Suzanne Nakata; sister, Peggy Kawano; brother, Raymond Terada; grandchildren, Carlin, Brenden, Tiffany & Tiare Nakata; and great grandchild, Aiko Nakata. Services honoring Mrs. Nakata will be held at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with services beginning at 11:00 a.m..
