Michael “Uncle Mike” Leland Castro
Passed away on December 10, 2017 in Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 67. Mike was born to David and Nellie Castro on May 18,1950 in Honolulu Hawaii, the middle child of five siblings. His family lived in Kalihi and settled Makaha. He attended St. Theresa, Stevenson Middle, and Farrington High schools. He married his local sweetheart Marilyn Maunu in 1973, and moved to Waianae in 1983. Mike was always an outgoing, fun-loving "people" person. He was a Service Advisor at Mike Salta, Jackson Auto, and Cutter Chevrolet; driver for PepsiCo; manager of Thrifty Car Rentals; co-owner of Waianae Auto Body; & appraiser for Pacific Appraisal Services, Inc. Mike was an active member of his church, Sacred Hearts Waianae, volunteering at the Food Bank and ushering for Sunday Mass. In retirement Mike followed his dream to see America! He purchased an RV camping trailer and spent summers exploring the United States with Marilyn. In the summer of 2017, he took his family on an Alaskan Cruise, the highlight of his travels. Mike is survived by his wife Marilyn; 4 children-Kalani, Kanoe, Noa, & Ikaika; 8 grandchildren; 2 sisters, 1 brother; & 99 nieces and nephews. Visitation at Borthwick Mortuary January 18, 2018 @ 10:30am. Service at 11:30am.
