Paul N. Kahunahana
Paul N. Kahunahana, age 73 of Pearl City, Hawaii passed away on 12/9/2017 after a nearly two year valiant fi ght against leukemia. Paul joined the U.S. Army National Guard in 1968 and was called for duty in Vietnam in February 1969. He was assigned to the 9th infantry division as a mechanized infantry soldier. Paul spent the fi rst 20 years of active duty assigned to 1st BN 487th FA as a mechanic and worked his way up to motor Sergeant. He retired in June 2003 as a Chief Warrant Offi cer 4 with the RTSM after 39 years of serving his country and State of Hawaii. Paul loved to cook and was a master chef in the kitchen. He was an avid reader, mechanic, and handyman who routinely fi xed things around the house. His hobbies included vacationing in Las Vegas, reading, gardening and walking his dogs. He loved animals and spent time volunteering at the Hawaiian Humane Society. Paul was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who touched many lives with his grace, care and kindness. He will be remembered for his easy going nature, thoughtful loving heart, and contagious laugh. He embodied kindness, optimism, and generosity. He left an indelible mark on those he touched with his infi nite spirit of aloha. Paul is survived by his wife Sharon, sons Paul Jr. (Natalie), David (Darlene) and daughter Polly Calbero (Arnie), granddaughters Sasha, Trisha, Natazia, Anela, and Saralee, 5 great grandchildren, and brothers Kenneth (Bella) and Joseph. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Solomon Kahunahana, Francis Kau, James Kau, David Paresa, Elizabeth (Ha'alako) Wilson, Therese Kim Seu, Elizabeth (Tita) Castro Dias, Mona Ann Walker. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Borthwick Mortuary Maunakea Chapel. Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment at 2:00 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacifi c, 2177 Puowaina Dr., Honolulu. Aloha attire. No fl owers.
