Sister Dorothy Santos, SS.CC.
Age 96 of Honolulu passed away on February 1, 2018 at Malia O Ka Malu Convent. She was born in Paia, Maui to Manuel and Alexa Santos. She had nine brothers and one sister. She attended Makawao Elementary, St. Anthony's High School in Wailuku and St. Louis -Loyola- MaryMount College. She became a Sister of the Sacred Hearts in August 1945. Her former students will remember her as Sr. Celine. She taught at Sacred Hearts Convent 1942-1959 and also from 1981-1982, Maria Regina from 1960-1971, St. Patrick from 1971-1980. She assisted in the Infirmary from 1982-1988 and Malia O Ka Malu from 1988-2009 and finally retired in 2009 at St. Anthony's (Kalihi), but returned to Malia O Ka Malu in 2012. She was well-known for creating beautiful lifesize mosaics which were prominently displayed in Hawaii, Kauai, various places in the U.S., Rome, Japan, Indonesia, Tonga, Fiji, India and Bangalore. Sr. Dorothy is survived by brother Lionel Santos; sister Sr. Cecelia Santos, M.M.; nieces and nephews. Visitation 9 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, rosary and eulogy 9:30 a.m., MASS 10 A.M., burial 3 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.
