On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, Gail Joanne Pule, known to many as Mrs. Pule or "Ma," passed away peacefully at the age of 73, surrounded by family. With over 50 years of teaching at Kahuku Elementary and Sunset Beach Elementary School, Gail taught about 1,500 students, many of whom stopped by to visit or reached out to her family while she was briefly in the hospital. Gail was born on March 27, 1944 in Rochester, NY and is survived by her two brothers, James (Kathy) and William (Mel) Tilling. She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Keala Pule-Viernes (Packy) and Ona Kalani (John), her son Nihoa Pule (Luka), and her 11 grandchildren. She will also forever be remembered by her numerous hanai children, students, dear colleagues, and friends. A retirement celebration will be held in her honor on Saturday, March 10, at 12:00 p.m. at Sunset Beach Elementary School, 59-360 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712.
