Jan Misae YamaneJan Misae Yamane was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on February 14, 1958 to Kazuo and Mildred Hiranaka. On February 9, 2018, Jan passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband, Terry at her side. Jan graduated from Kaimuki High School, class of '76 and attended the University of Hawaii, Manoa. She received her degree in Travel Industry Management (TIM) in 1981 and her masters in Urban and Regional Planning in 1988. She worked for the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT), Hawaii Tourism Authority and the Waikiki Business Improvement District Association (BID) until her retirement in June 2017. Jan is survived by her husband Terry, stepsons Jason and Kevin Yamane; sisters Pamela Uchima (Gene) and Linda Tom; uncle and aunty, cousins, niece and nephews, great nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kazuo and Mildred Hiranaka and brother John Hiranaka. She will be remembered for her love of family, friends and travel --- all of which were evident in everything she did, from organizing family dinners and trip itineraries, to girls' night out or singing karaoke with friends. The Yamane family would like to thank Jan's extended ohana for their love and support and Straub Medical Center and Islands Hospice for the wonderful care provided to her. Please join us as we remember and celebrate Jan on Sunday, March 25th at Hosoi Mortuary, 30 N. Kukui Street, Honolulu, Hawaii. Visitation at 3:00pm, service at 4:00pm.
