Ronald Takeshi Kimura, “Take”
RONALD TAKESHI KIMURA, TAKE 93, of Honolulu passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born on November 10, 1924 to Ichimatsu and Mitsu (Hirano) Kimura. A McKinley H.S. graduate, he served a tour as an interpreter and light truck driver in the U.S. Army in 1945. He married Lillian Toshie Kimura in 1955. He studied art and sign painting, working at Dairyman's (now Meadow Gold) and Honolulu Sign Co. before establishing Commercial Sign Service, which he ran for over 30 years until retirement. Ronald was creative, resourceful, and inquisitive, yet humble. He had keen interests in art, singing, calligraphy, topiary, yard work, and other pastimes. He was a devoted husband and father, and had an abiding faith in Christ. He is survived by son Jason Kimura (Kathleen), grandchildren Jonathan and Jennifer, and siblings Robert "Champ" Kimura, Kenneth "Chaz" Kimura, Alice Yoshida, and Doris Morikawa. He was predeceased by sister Ruth Koide. Services will be held March 24, 2018, 10:00 am, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, 30 N. Kukui St. Visitation at 9:00 am. Interment March 26, Punchbowl Cemetery.
