Psalm 91 Nena M Bumanglag, 89, of Kailua passed peacefully at home on March 7, 2018 embraced in love by family members. She is predeceased by Monico Mendoza, adopted father, Mercedes Acido Lacangan, mother, Bernardo A. Lacangan, step-father, her siblings, Helen Rabut, Elisio Mendoza, James Mendoza (WWII Veteran, buried at Punchbowl Cemetery), and nephew, Rodney Tabion. A beloved wife and mother, she is survived by her Husband Hilarion A. Bumanglag, Sr. (ret. Pearl Harbor); her Children, Patricia (Robert) Texeira, Gregory (Wendy) Dikilato, Jr., Marilyn (Jose) Abejon, Stephanie (Alan Sr., deceased) Silva , Angel (Damian) DePasquale, Hilarion Bumanglag, Jr., and Tracey Bumanglag (Sean) Taoka; Step-children; Estrelita Nelson, Carmella Saldavia, Sharon Murphy and Rochelle Deitz; Sister-in-law, Penny (Elisio) Mendoza; Nephews; Michael William (Donna) Mendoza, James Ivan (Liane) Mendoza, Kenneth Tabion, David (Donna) Tabion, and Nieces; Judy Toyofuku, Debra (Michael) Gearon, and Linda Soriano. Nena was also blessed with 13 Grandchildren, 20 Great-grandchildren, 3 Great-great grandchildren and 18 Step-grand and great grandchildren. In former years (1960's), Nena was the President of the Filipino American Women's Civic Club of Honolulu which celebrated the annual martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal at Ala Moana Beach Park on June 30th of each year. She was also one of the innovators in organizing the Filipino American Civic Club in Waipahu. She held positions with Cardinal Mailing Service, Honolulu Rapid Transit, Builders Construction Report Magazine, Sun Press, Metropolitan Life, and MCI. Two of her more interesting jobs were picking pineapples for Dole, and modeling for Liberty House. Nena also taught Sunday School and Bible Study for Kailua Baptist Church in the 1970's. Ultimately, she dedicated herself to caring for her family, creating a beautiful home, cooking, and entertaining friends. With dancing as her passion, Nena and Lari joined the Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association in the early 1980's where she also held a position in their Aikahi office. They spent many weekends at the Palladium dancing the night away! We love you, mommy. Services will be held on April 18, 2018 at St. John Vianney Church, 920 Keolu Dr., Kailua. Visitation: 9:30 a.m.; Eulogy: 10:30 a.m.; Mass: 11:00 a.m. Lunch reception to follow. Interment: 2:00 p.m. at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. ~ Aloha attire requested ~
