MICHAEL EDWARD SIMPSON
MICHAEL EDWARD SIMPSONAge 82, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on December 6, 2017 in Chandler, AZ. Mike was born in Wabash, Indiana on July 28, 1935 to James Edward (Ted) and Margaret Simpson. He graduated from Purdue University and got his Masters plus at Harvard. He served in the Air Force for 3 years before moving to Hawaii in 1967. He worked for Honeywell before accepting a position with the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii, where he worked until April of 2017. He spent a good deal of time on the University Marine Research vessels, which he loved doing. He was also an active member and honorary "Czar" of the Waikiki Yacht Club, where he enjoyed spending most of his time when he was not at sea. Mike is survived by his sister, Sally (Simpson) Swindler; niece Lori Rosenberg, and nephew Scott Swindler. The family cordially invites you to join in the scattering of ashes and celebration of life on Saturday, April 21 at 4:00 p.m. at Waikiki Yacht Club, 1599 Ala Moana Blvd. Boats will depart the Club at 4:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow at the clubhouse at 5:00 p.m. Please join us to share stories and remember a life well lived.
