Dr. Malcolm Julian Slakter, “Mickey”
DR. MALCOLM JULIAN SLAKTER, MICKEY 89, of Honolulu, a retired professor of statistics, educational measurement and evaluation, Department of Educational Psychology, University at Buffalo, NY, passed away on June 12, 2018 at home. He was born in Syracuse, NY. He spent his early years growing up in Utica, NY and later many summers at his beloved Camp Hy on Molasses Pond in Eastbrook, ME. He also taught at Syracuse University, NY and UC Berkeley, CA. In Honolulu, he was President of B'nai B'rith Hawaii, President of Jewish Community Services of Hawaii, VP of Hawaii Prostate Cancer Coalition. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Nancy Suzuki- Slakter; sons, Jeffrey (Janice) and Lawrence (Joyce); daughter, Hedy (Bruce) Cohn; sister, Esther Sherline; and by grandchildren, Susan, Sharon, David, Lauren and Sarah.
