Dr. Peter Guy Chew Wong
Dr. Peter Guy Chew WongDr. Peter Guy Chew Wong passed away on July 20, 2018 at the age of 89. He attended McKinley High School and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Oregon Dental School. He later was drafted into the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. His Honolulu dental practice of more than 40 years included terms as President of Hawaii Dental Association and Honolulu County Dental Society. He was instrumental in forming the dental residency program at St. Francis Hospital and in bringing the first dental clinic to the island of Molokai. Later, he joined St. Francis Hospital's bone marrow transplant team as a consultant for their patients' oral health care. Golf, gardening and watching the stock market became his passion after retirement. Less than a month before he passed, he was proud of achieving his long time stock market goal. Preceded in death by his wife, Lorena Quon Wong and son, Dr. Bradley P. Wong; he is survived by his children, Christina (Gino) Gabrio and Dr. Wesley Wong; daughter-in-law, Nancy Wong; grandchildren, Jonathan (Mona) Gabrio, Jenna Gabrio, Jayann (Chris) Laniauskas, Andrew Wong and Alex Wong; great- grandchildren, Zylas and Zaleia Gabrio; his sister, Annie Ching. Memorial Service will be held at Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Visitation: 5:30 p.m. Service: 6:30 p.m. Casual Attire.
