90, of Honolulu passed away on July 14, 2018 at her residence in Honolulu. She was born in Honolulu and retired from the University of Hawaii. She is survived by daughters Emi Espinda, Yuri Rhoden (Wayne), grandchildren Caitlin Espinda, Trevor James Sylva, Asia Marie Sylva and Tiare Rhoden, great grandchildren Traxson Sylva and Royce Asato, sister-in-law Barbara Miyasato and son-in-law Steve Ortanes. Ruth was predeceased by husband George Chang, daughter Sumi Chang-Ortanes, and brother James Miyasato. Visitation at 5pm on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary.
