JAMES L. MCCAULEY SR.
JAMES L. MCCAULEY SR. JAMES L. MCCAULEY SR. Passed away July 18th, just prior to his 97th Birthday. James was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 24th, 1921. James served proudly over 30 years in the U.S. Military from WWII, through the Vietnam Era. Initially, he joined the U.S. Air Force as a single man, then once married to his life partner Katherine in 1947, chose to join the National Guard in San Antonio, TX. During WWII his only brother was serving in combat already, so he was assigned stateside. In 1959 James joined the U.S. Army & was sent to serve in Korea, guarding the 38th Parallel. Once he returned stateside his multiple assignments included Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia & Hawaii. James retired from the U.S. Army after a distinguished career in the Armed Forces. He & his wife Katherine initially retired in Tucson, AZ, where he was employed by the State of AZ, as a Job Specialist, Scouting & Placing Veterans returning from Vietnam, under the Veterans Re-Adjustment Act. As a Veteran himself, he found his position particularly rewarding. In 1983, he & his wife returned to Hawaii as they'd always vowed to do upon departing in 1973. The happiest years of their lives were enjoyed here between 1967 & 1973. James is survived by his devoted wife Katherine of 71 years, along with 2 children, 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren & 1 great- great-grandchild. A Memorial Service is planned for August 21st at Holy Trinity Church at 11:00 am, followed by his Burial at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kaneohe at 1:00pm.
