Richard Ka’aha Eleneki
Richard Ka'aha ElenekiRichard Ka'aha Eleneki 78, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2018. Richard was born in Honolulu Hawaii on July 24, 1939 to Thelma Iwalani Macy and Benedict Afong Eleneki. Richard grew up on Catherine Street in Kapahulu and was within walking distance to Waikiki beach where he spent many years enjoying the sunshine and waves that he so loved. Richard attended Kamehameha schools Kapalama campus from Kindergarten until he graduated in 1958. He attended Mesa college in Grand Junction Colorado on a football scholarship and met his wife Betty Serviss Eleneki. Richard was an avid handball player who represented Hawaii in the National Finals several times. His home court was Nu'uanu YMCA which is where he met and made many lifelong friends. His generosity of spirit and love of family, was the hallmark of his life. Some of the best memories were recalling all the nicknames he came up with for his children and grandchildren and the numerous hours he spent with mom attending practices, games, and events for his family. He also enjoyed golfing and volleyball. Richard worked for Chevron USA for 38 years. He is survived by his wife Betty Eleneki; son Benedict "Alika" Eleneki (Debbi); daughters, Cindy Kehaulani Eleneki and Mahina Eleneki Hugo (Todd). He has six grandchildren-Mahealani Rodriguez; Kiana Wells; Bronson Nainoa Kau, Ka'aha Eleneki; Kala'i Beck; Makana Eleneki. Richard has one sister Yvonne Eleneki Lee, and one Aunt MeIvia Macy Hewitt. The family would like to extend a special Mahalo to Dr. Concepcion of Straub and the St. Francis Hospice team for their kind and compassionate care and especially to his caregiver Felecia Stewart-Michel. Memorial Service to be held at Oahu Cemetery on August 25, 2018. Visitation is from 9:00am-10:30am, service at 10:30. Aloha Attire. Arrangements Provided By: Oahu Mortuary
