Brent Eamon Healoha Catekista passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, at his Waianae home with his husband, Sheyne Shimose by his side on July 21, 2018. Born January 30, 1977 in Honolulu, Brent graduated from Kamehameha School and earned his Bachelors Degree in Psychology at Loyola Marymount University. He loved and played volleyball from intermediate school through college and coached at his alma mater for many years. After returning to Hawaii, Brent worked for the Department of Defense for 18 years at numerous military bases as an IT Tech. Besides Sheyne, he is survived by his parents Lori Hatico and Harry Catekista, siblings Ana Giron, Harry Catekista, and Hadrian Catekista as well as fur babies Chopu, Fatso (passed away December 2017), Pili and Kia and chinchilla Chi-Chi. His funeral was held at the chapel of Kamehameha Schools on August 4, 2018. His ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony at a later date. May he rest in peace.
