Robert McBurney Kempa II, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2018, at the age of 70. He was a beloved father, brother, son, cousin, and friend and is survived by his only son, Robert M. Kempa III. He was born on November 4, 1947, in Honolulu, to Robert McBurney Kempa, Sr. and Lehua Cathcart Conrad. After attending Punahou School, Robert went to college in Michigan before returning home to work for the family business, EMCO, Eaves & Meredith Co Ltd. There, he managed the workshop for the company, overseeing the hoisting and rigging equipment used for many of the state's largest construction projects, including H3. Robert was the keeper of family folklore and an amateur historian, delighting in storytelling and exchange. Services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 1pm at the family plot in Oahu Cemetery.
