Ding Kong Wong
Ding Kong Wong passed away peacefully at the age of 98 in his home with his family beside him on Friday, 3 August 2018. Ding Kong and his three brothers owned and operated Yat Sing Company, a dry goods store which their father started in 1904 until it closed in 1988. He was also night manager of the Wo Fat restaurant in Chinatown, and an active member of the Wong Kong Har Tong Society. Ding Kong devoted his entire life to his family. Family was a priority for him, not just his own children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren, but also his siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Ding Kong is survived by his 4 children, Linda (Abe) Kealoha; Darryll (Tiki) Wong; Derrick (Carol) Wong; and Wendy (John) Howell; 8 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy, in 2012. A celebration of his life will be held at Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel on Monday, 1 October 2018.
