John Hayato Iwai was born to Yutaka and Kane Iwai in Honolulu, HI on March 10, 1923. He died peacefully at his home in Manoa Valley on September 7, 2018. He was 95. John graduated high school from St. Louis School and earned his B.A. degree from the University of Hawaii while working full time and raising his family. He worked and retired as a Data Processing System Analyst from the State of Hawaii and U.S. Federal Government. John was an Army veteran. He is survived by his wife Eunice M. Iwai; children Janice (Ed) Barnett, Bruce (Donna) Iwai, Wendel Iwai and Karen Iwai; grandchild Cathy (Tim) Gray; great-grandchildren Andrew Gray and Christopher Gray. He was preceded in death by sisters, Kimiko Yamada, Violet Tasaka and brother Paul Iwai. No service will be held at his request.
