Born on August 4, 1920 in Akron Ohio. She died on May 12, 2018. After many military moves all over the world, she and her family were residents in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 30 years. Subsequently, in late retirement, she and her husband, Edward, moved to the Pohai Nani Retirement Center in Kaneohe, Hawaii. She is survived by her four sons, Ned Lawrence Kaleiwela of Tauranga, New Zealand; Dana Philip (Cynthia) of Kauai, Hawaii; Todd Judson (Claire) of Pearl City, Hawaii; and Kip Wilson (Evelyn) of Fairfax Station, Virginia. She is survived also by seven grandchildren, Zara (James) Kendall, Auckland, New Zealand; Lyle (Pua) Nicely, Honolulu, Hawaii; Dion (Ramey) Nicely, New York City, New York; Jaime (Rob) Cunnane, Pearl City, Hawaii; Cory Nicely, Manly Beach, Australia; Nikki Nicely, Minot, North Dakota; and Judd Nicely of Fairfax Station Virginia; as well as four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn attended Akron University (Ohio) and was a performing member of a piano-quartet. She was a graduate, Bachelor of Music, of the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music. She taught piano for many years and was on the faculty of the Oakland City College, Indiana, before her marriage in 1945. Marilyn attended various universities as she accompanied her military husband in his travels. She received her Master's Degree from the University of New Mexico and was a librarian for Albuquerque Public Schools for twenty years. She and her husband were active members of Central United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she was an usher for a quarter of a century. Marilyn enjoyed traveling, as well as visiting members of her far-flung family. And she thoroughly enjoyed symphony concerts, the Santa Fe Opera, the Honolulu Symphony, and many other cultural pursuits. Per her wishes, her body was donated to the University of Hawaii Medical School for study there. Private memorial services will be held on September 24th and she will be interred with her husband at the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
