Kogoro “Goro” Sakima
Kogoro Goro Sakima passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 14, 2018 at the age of 96. He was born on September 8, 1922 in Hilo, Hawaii. He spent his early years growing up on Kam IV Road in Kalihi Valley on Oahu. His family ran a hog farm which Goro and his brother Akira later took over and relocated to Waianae. After the farm was sold Goro went back to school and earned a bookkeeping degree and worked for Holiday Mart until his retirement. After his retirement he volunteered with AARP for 25 years at their Kaneohe tax site helping the elderly complete and file their income tax returns. Goro is survived by his wife, Lois Ishikawa Sakima. Predeceased by his brothers Soei, Melvin Seiyei, Akira, Joe Kaoru, Yatsugi and sisters, Tomiko Miyashiro and Miyoko Shinshiro. Goro was a member of the Community of Christ, Ginowan and Ishikawa Okinawan Clubs. Visitation 9 am, services 10 am on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. No flowers. Aloha attire.
