Flaviana Reeves South
Flaviana "Flavy" Reeves South, 79, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2018 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in the comforting hands and warmth of her husband Vernon. Born in Honolulu, June 25, 1939, the daughter of Joseph La'anui Armistead Reeves and Genevieve Pearl Heine Tonsberg. Flavy attended Lincoln, Stevenson and graduated from Punahou in 1957. From early childhood she excelled in academics and was placed in advanced classes by her teachers. Flavy had an ear for music, playing beautiful piano music for all to hear in the neighborhood. She also loved strumming her ukulele and singing when an impromptu gathering occurred, everyone surrounded joined in. She was also a fabulous cook, learning recipes from all her Aunts, she also created many signature dishes. Growing up in Makiki, she spent her weekends alternating with her first cousins the Wright's who lived above O'ahu Country Club and her first cousins, the enormous Reeves Ohana in Kuli'ou'ou. Always active and keeping in touch with each cousin after everyone eventually married and had children of their own. Loved and Embraced by all, whether it was a Punahou reunion, Family functions or the infamous Reeves Kuliou'oulympics held annually at Kuli'ou'ou Park. Flaviana, Aunty Flavy, leaves a deep void to her Reeves, Heine and Wright Ohana. Her piano, singing and strumming of her ukulele is deeply missed by her husband, children and grandchildren, not to mention her Onolicious Meals. Flaviana is survived by her husband Vernon, son: Vernon Ray, daughters: Inger (Stanton) Pa, Stacey and Rae-Ann Kihilani, Grandchildren: Lena La'anui, James Kamalani, Jordan Iokia-South, Ripp La'anui.
