TAKAO HARAGUCHI
Sunrise: August 11, 1924 Sunset: September 22, 2018 Takao Haraguchi, 94 passed away peacefully on September 22, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 11, 1924 in the Pe'epekeo area on the Big Island. He spent his younger years growing up in the Hilo area. At 18 he volunteered to join the 442nd "Go For Broke" Regimental Combat Team and fought in Europe until the end of WWII. He was wounded twice on the battlefield and received several commendations for his actions. After returning home from the war, Takao worked at Pearl Harbor Naval Supply Center and Hawaiian Electric Co. until he retired. He spent the next 30 years enjoying numerous trips to Las Vegas with family and friends. Takao is survived by daughters, Patricia Alpert and Susan Louis; sons, Glenn, John and Dean Haraguchi; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Millilani Mortuary, Mauka Chapel in Waipio. Visitation: 5:30 p.m.; Service: 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
