Evans Hong Moon YimEvans Hong Moon Yim, 97 of Kaneohe died peacefully on Oct. 6, 2018 and has joined his wife Barbara for eternity. He is survived by his sons Dr. Ernie (Brenda) M.S. Yim, MD, Dr. Paul (Janell) M.T. Yim, DDS, daughters; Dr. Gwyneth Y.L. Ching, DDS, Janis (Roland) Y.C. Chun, and Merle Y.H. Sen, Esq, 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grand- children, brother Henry (Berna) Yim, sister-in-law Violet Yim and nieces and nephews. Evans was the son of Yim Lun Chee (aka Yim Ah Lin) and Yim Chun Shee. He had 3 bothers and one sister deceased: Walter, Clarence, and Herbert Yim and Beatrice Leong. Evans was the general manager of Lin's Supermarket and principal broker of Evans Yim Realty. He belonged to and was an active participant in various organizations. including St. Ann's Church, Kaneohe Lion's Club (past president and Deputy District Governor), Kaneohe Business Group (Charter President) Bow Yee Tong, See Dai Doo, St. Louis Alumni, Sugino's Dance Academy, Hawaii Gardenia Circle, Pan Pacific Dance Club. He was also active in the Pali Tuesday Men's Golf Club, the Qi Center, and the Honolulu Club. Evans received many distinguished awards during his active life. The State Legislature honored Evans by the Neighborhood Board recognizing him as the Outstanding Citizen of the Millennium in 2001 and "Honorary Mayor" of Kaneohe in 2003. He received the Paul Harris Award from the Rotary Club of Kaneohe for his community service in 2009 and Distinguished Kama`aina of Kaneohe Bay award from the Ko`olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club in 2011. He always called Kaneohe, "God's Country". Visitation 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Ann's Church on Nov. 24, 2018. Services begin at 10:45 a.m. with Mass to follow. Burial at 1pm at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Ann's Church, 46-129 Haiku Rd. Kaneohe, HI 96744 and N.H.R.F. Qi Center 46-032 Kamehameha Hwy.
