Amy Yona Woo Tong
Amy Yona Woo Tong, age 96 of Honolulu, passed away on October 27, 2018. She was born in Kipu, Kauai, the seventh of ten children to Chong Cho Woo and Mary Hong Woo. Amy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunty to several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is survived by her daughter Carol Ann Irving (Milton) Goto and grandchildren Dean M. (Cherie) Goto, Dianne M. (Earl) Sod, Michelle K. Goto, Marc K. Goto, Taylor Aquilar-Goto and Madisyn Ann Goto. She is also survived by step-son Dennis Tong, step-daughter Linda Tong and grandchildren Tabitha (Chris) Bergantinos, Puakaiuiokalani Ching and Makana Ching. Amy's surviving sisters are Hara (Yee Pom) Chang, Dora (Richard) Lee and Priscilla (Won Chal) Yu. Amy worked as a sales associate and retired after a long career with J.C Penny's Ala Moana. Amy married William Randolph Irving in 1942 and had two children, Carol Ann and Michael Dennis. She later remarried George Chee Kee Tong and their blended family included Dennis, Michael and Linda. She and George travelled extensively throughout The Middle East, Asia, Europe, Africa and South America. George passed away in 1994. Amy met Sumito "Sumi" Ikeda and they eventually became life-long partners for a period of nearly 20 years. During these years, she travelled frequently to Las Vegas, to visit grandchildren and sisters on the mainland. Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Diamond Head Memorial Park Chapel. Visitation at 4:30pm, service at 5:30pm followed by refreshments and fellowship. Amy's urn will be interned on Monday, November 26, 2018, with her son Michael Dennis. Arrangements Provided By: Diamond Head Mortuary
