Sadako Hokama
93, of Kalihi Valley in Honolulu, passed away at home on the morning of November 8, 2018. She was born in Shuri, Okinawa and immigrated to Hawaii with her late husband, Yoshihide, and five children. Settling in Honolulu, the couple had three more children. The unfortunate passing of a son resulted in seven children. Sadako taught her children their cultural heritage, and the family was active in the Hawaii Shuri-Naha Club and Osato Doshi-Kai. She and her husband were also members of the Japanese congregation at Kalihi Union Church. Sadako's love endures in her children: Lt. Colonel, U.S.A. Yoshio George (Sandra) Hokama, Yoshimi Lilian Hokama, Florence Clifford, James (Debra) Hokama, Colonel, U.S.A.F. Jane (Richard) Wallace, Joyce (Karl) Balisbisana, Gary (Susan Asai) Hokama; 6 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation is at 5:00 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers please.
