HIDEO WHITEY and KIYOKO YAMAMOTO
Kiyoko Saito Yamamoto, 93, passed away on April 11, 2017. The third of four daughters of Masa (Otsuki) and Kichiji Saito, she grew up in Aiea, graduating from Queen's Nursing School in 1946. For many years she served the Kalihi-Palama neighborhoods as a DOH public health nurse in schools, neighborhood centers and public assistance housing. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, crocheting clothing and dolls - - and hats for Kapiolani Hospital newborns. She also volunteered with HGEA retirees. "Whitey" Yamamoto, 95, passed away on January 30, 2018. The fourth of four sons of Kazu (Osaki) and Shuntaro Yamamoto, he grew up in Hilo, graduating Hilo High '41. He moved to Honolulu and worked in wholesale foods as a bookkeeper. In the 1960's he co-founded and co-owned H&W Distributors. Later in his career, he was the bookkeeper for Honsador. He liked bowling, the news, and reading. He served as treasurer for Lanakila PTA, Hilo High '41 Honolulu, small business group. Married for 68 years, Whitey and K had a full life together. They are survived by daughter Cora Yamamoto; Granddaughters, Jana (Dylan) Spencer and Ariel Kiyomi (Nabil) Daoud; Great grandsons: Alexander and Asher Spencer; Kiyoko's sisters, Edna Tanada and Betty Togikawa. Interment Service at Nuuanu Memorial Park on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Aloha, casual, no black attire.
