Lawrence Tadashi Teruya, 80, passed away at home in Pearl City on Thursday, October 4, 2018. He was born on January 21, 1938, in Honolulu to Tadaki and Kamado Teruya. After graduating from McKinley High School in 1956, he enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years, stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Greenland. He retired from the Honolulu Gas Company and was a member of Awase Doshi Kai. Predeceased by his parents, brother James, sisters Nancy Zaha and Frances Kuwaye, Larry leaves behind Alma, his wife of 54 years; daughters Laureen (Melvin III) Teruya-Schmidt and Lisa Ann; grandsons Melvin "Kamakea" IV and Bradden; and sister June (Thomas) Suzuki of San Mateo, California. Services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Visitation: 5:30pm. Memorial Service: 6:30pm. Private inurnment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
