Jo-Ann Akiko (Hiraoka) Machida
Jo-Ann Akiko MachidaJo-Ann, 57, quietly joined God's army of angels on November 16, 2018 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas with family by her side, after a long illness. As one of the pioneers of women's athletics in Hawaii high school softball and basketball she lettered all four years and graduated from Oregon State University as a shortstop participating in the Women's College World Series. After her athletic career ended, she began a lifelong commitment to Liberty House, then Macy's for 34 years. As a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunty, niece, cousin, worker, co-worker, friend she will be missed for her loyalty, selflessness, determination, work ethic, values, compassion, smile, and robust laughter. Survived by Rod (Husband), Cody (Son), Brandon (Son), George Hiraoka (Father), Frances Hiraoka Eguchi (Mother), Mark (Brother) and Marlene Hiraoka, Stephanie (Sister) and Dan Matsunaka, Sandy Hiraoka (Sister), Wesley and Karen Machida, and nieces and nephews Courtney, Matthew, Samantha, Missy, Aaron, and many loving aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
