Elsa Kazue Agena
68, of Kailua, Oahu, passed away on December 2, 2018 at Kuakini Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Hilo to Mitsuo Kure and Fujiko Yokoyama Kure on November 13, 1950. She graduated from Hilo High School in 1968 and the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Elsa loved her arts and crafts and made numerous pins and lei for everyone. Elsa worked at the Pagoda Hotel, Imperial Hawaii Resort and Tihati Productions. She is survived by her husband Bryan, daughter Kristi (Travis) McCabe, son Jaysen (Beth) Agena and granddaughters: Elyse "Kana" McCabe and Brianne "Bulla" McCabe; sisters: Geraldine (Roy) Arakaki and Kayleen "Mapu" Kure, aunty Yoshiko Shimada and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Very special thanks to Dr. Joseph Koo, Dr. Kaye Kawahara, Dr. Kalani Yamamoto, Dr. Eugene Kamemoto, Dr. Stuart Nakamoto, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and all the doctors and staff at Kuakini Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at Borthwick Mortuary's Mauka Chapel on December 23, 2018. Visitation: 5:30 p.m.; Service: 6:30 p.m. Refreshments to follow. Casual attire.
