BARBARA WESSINGER 95.75, died peacefully 16 Nov. 2018 on Maui. Born in Santa Barbara, California, 17 Feb. 1923, she graduated from what is now the University of California at Santa Barbara, and later added a U. Hawaii master's degree. She began her teaching career in California, lost her first husband, Andrew Ransalier MacFarland to WWII and bore him a son Andrew Bruce. She married Ray Andrew Wessinger in 1948, had two more sons, and retired in '87 after 22 years teaching kindergarten at Punahou. Always determined and curious, she visited every continent but Antarctica, enjoying dozens of cruises and scores of Elderhostels. She was active in Maui senior organizations, and stayed in touch with folks she'd worked, played, or traveled with. She enjoyed playing piano, genealogy, swimming, tennis, and dancing - taking up line dancing in '97 after losing her husband. A life well lived! Two sons preceded her in death, Ray Allen and Eugene Kent. She is survived by her first son; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Thanksgiving morning her ashes followed those of her husband Ray into the ocean north of Kapalua Bay.
